Photography has existed as a physical entity since the beginning of the Renaissance, artists have been using camera obscura to project real scenes, but it was not until Joseph Nicéphore Niépce's View from the Window at Le Gras appeared on the polished pewter plate. Only then did photography officially announce its birth.
